2021: New Years Resolutions

2021: New Years Resolutions

Hello everyone! I hope you all had a nice New Year’s Eve. We celebrated a virtual Noon Year’s Eve with Mr. Nature and Tap & Bottle, had some carnitas tacos, and then went to my parent’s house where we enjoyed takeout from Tavolino. Since having kids, we never go out for New Years Eve.

Support and Invest in Local Businesses

I am always trying to reduce shopping trips to big box retailers and Amazon. It’s been such a hard year for small business owners that I want to continue to highlight my favorite businesses and also contribute financially. I

Make my Morning Routine a Habit

With sleep regressions and the holidays, I have fallen off my 5AM wakeup routine. I am most productive in the early hours of the morning. There are no distractions and I am able to knock out my paralegal work. I like when I’m able to work in the morning because I can then be more attentive when the kids are awake. (especially because my daughter no longer naps!) Preschool in the fall can’t come soon enough. I treasure those early quiet hours where I can enjoy a nice hot coffee uninterrupted.

Move My Body More

Ok, this sounds vague and non-specific all things goals aren’t supposed to be. I originally wanted to do the 52-hike challenge but after talking with Chris, I’ve decided not to due to our many outdoor physical interests. We are just getting back into mountain biking and we also love to snowboard, road cycle, and run. Last year we signed up for the Rock n’ Roll Half-Marathon which was postponed to this June. I am planning to start my training plan in March and use cycling for the days that call for cross-training. I would say unofficially my goal is to go on a family hike OR bike ride at least once a week.

Grow my Beautycounter Team

This past year I signed on as a Beautycounter consultant. I’ve had success with sharing the products I use and love on social media but I’d like to explore the team and mentor aspect of the business. This is one of those goals that will put me outside of my comfort zone but I’m excited for the potential of building a community!

Post Regularly to the Blog

This one is pretty self-explanatory. When I first started this blog, I really wanted to focus on travel + weekend trips but with COVID, that didn’t happen as often as I’d liked. I have so many drafts but never hit publish because I either want more pictures or am thinking of the right things to say. I’m hoping by honing in on my morning routine, I’m able to free up some time to devote to creating content for my blog.

Organize + Declutter my House

I feel like along with wanting to lose weight, this resolution shows up every year. As my kids grow older there are more clothes and items to clear out and donate. Not to mention I’m still breastfeeding Benjamin. I have a feeling we will wean sometime this year so I’m excited to Konmari my closet and start building a capsule wardrobe of quality classic staples. I cannot wait to get rid of the nursing bras and stretched out shirts!

A few months ago, I binge watched The Home Edit on Netflix. While I wanted to add everything from The Container Store to my cart, my budget app was screaming at me! I’ve been focusing on one project a month to help budget out the purchases. I’m excited to work on the pantry and organize all my kitchen cabinets. Maybe I can finally make room for an Instant Pot.

What are some of your New Year’s resolutions / goals for 2021 if you don’t make resolutions?

Friday Faves | December 4, 2020

Friday Faves | December 4, 2020

Good morning everyone! I hope you all have had a great week. It has been nice to have a slow one after all of our Thanksgiving festivities. Even though we kept it very small this year, there was plenty of cooking to do and cleaning. We spent the week getting back into our routines and finishing our leftovers. Pie for breakfast? Yes please.

This is my first edition of my friday faves where I share random tidbits throughout the week. It can range from a newly discovered hiking trail, a new dish from a local restaurant, or a new beauty find. I hope you enjoy!

Life Update

Life Update

It has been an embarrassing long time since I last wrote a blog post! Life got so busy. Chris is working from home while balancing school full-time and I am working part time from home having taken on some additional responsibilities while continuing my stay at home mom duties which equals a recipe for ignoring this blog. I feel like I have finally caught up on work so I can devote more time to this little space on the internet. Here’s what’s been going on the past couple months…

Sedona: Social Distancing Edition

Sedona: Social Distancing Edition

Good morning everyone! We just got back from a relaxing weekend in Sedona! After 3 months of just being at home, we needed a change of scenery. I’m grateful for the ability to stay home but it can wear on you after awhile. Arizona is technically re-open but with the recent news of our surge, we wanted to still play it safe. We brought wipes to clean door knobs and surfaces of our AirBnB, packed our own groceries, cooked all of our meals at home, and chose activities where we could maintain an appropriate social distance. I can already tell a difference in my mood and patience even though we’ve returned to the world of staying home, neighborhood walks, and grocery pick ups.

Tips for Working from Home

Tips for Working from Home

I have been working from home part-time for the past 2.5 years. I have managed to work 20-30 hour weeks while being a stay-at-home mom to two kids. At times I’ve found it very challenging as I try to balance being a good mom, wife, and an employee while fitting in a fitness routine, time for self-care, hobbies, and just general decompression time. Whenever I start to feel overwhelmed, I find myself reverting back to the habits on this list. Through the years, I’ve found what works best for me to have a productive day while making sure I take care of myself. I wanted to share my tips in hopes it could help someone else struggling as well!
